The article discusses some of the issues traditionally associated with the translation of the works of Taras Shevchenko, in this case Vietnamese. Some features of the Ukrainian and Vietnamese literary traditions have been analyzed, and so far have not been studied. For example, translating place names, people"s names, translating ancient phrases, idioms... The most difficult thing is that ancient words have changed their meanings. In short, translating poetry is not simply translating words but also translating an entire culture. Translators must, on the one hand, be faithful to the original, while on the other hand not distort the &target language. A successful translation is one that reconciles both poles. The translation must be Vietnameseized in a skilled and professional manner so that readers can feel the beauty and uniqueness of Shevchenko"s poetry. It is proved that all &the unique individual characteristics of world cultures in general and their own representatives (in the case of this study, it was Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko and Vietnamese poet Nguyen Du) became more open to understanding as artists and person&alities during the translation process. What is noted in the paper generally confirms the relevance of the study to problems of acculturation. It is proved that Vietnamese poets with special responsibility approach the process of translation, trying &to convey the fullness of Taras Shevchenko"s words. Vietnamese translators put huge work into discovering and analyzing new sides of T. Shevchenko"s works. One thing that makes Vietnamese readers and especially academic critics have a lot of love and& admiration for the works of the great Ukrainian poet because they find similarities with the great Vietnamese poet - Nguyen Du. That similarity is reflected in the selection of typical female characters in the works. Through the fate of a woman to t&ell the fate of an entire nation.
