In the article the presented look that takes place in home historiography, and also in the environment of Ukrainian scientific emigration, in relation to the place of UGKC in social and political processes on Zakarpattia in the Second World war-time and post-war period. Definition of the role of Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church (UGCC) in Ukraine in late 1930-s is influenced by events of socio-political nature in Transcarpathia. It is known that this region in comparison to other territories of Western Ukraine was annexed by the Soviet Union at the latest. In their papers, researchers focus on the Soviet period in the history of Transcarpathia, separating it from the occupation policies of other political regimes that prevailed in the reg&ion. This paper is an attempt to show the importance of social and political processes in Transcarpathia during the prewar period, the place of UGCC in them and the state of exploration of this "phenomenon" in the national historiography. This attemp&tactualizesthisissue, because the study looks at the reflections that prevailed and prevails today among scientists about religious factor during important political transformations of this period. In historiography of Ukraine to this subject is give&n sufficient attention. Researchers analyse particular phenomena and processes, but thorough historiographical assessment of participation of UGCC in national movement in Transcarpathia at the beginningof World War II is still missing. Contemporary h&istoriographical studies while examining the role of the UGCC in the social and political processes in Transcarpathia during 1939 - 1940"s shed light on certain periods of her operation in the region. Particularly these studies concentrate on the pla&ce of UGCC during the dominance of different political ideologies, which influenced church life in Transcarpathia. First of all these political ideologies are Hungarian, Czechoslovak, German and, of course, Soviet. As for the Soviet period in Transca&rpathia geopolitical factors have produced different trends in the transition of UGCC under the sphere of influence of Russian Orthodoxy. Until 1947 as mentions the historian I. Ortynsky Ukrainian Greek Catholics were in an uncertain state. Only afte&r the car accident and the mysterious death of Bishop Theodore Romzha Soviet government applied full-scale mechanism of oppression in relation to this denomination. In November on the Chernecha Mountain near Mukachevo the Congress of special commissi&on of so-called "convinced" was called, which was obliged to decide to break with the Apostolic See. From this time open pressure against the clergy and the faithful began. In addition to the characteristic of UGCC in the Soviet political system of c&oordinates the article analyzes the place of UGCC during the German occupation of Transcarpathia. In historiography there is a range of views on the subject, in which the dominant is anti-clerical orientation of the German government towards UGCC in &Galicia, in particular in the region studied in the article. In historical studies on this issue there is a wide range of views, which concerns with the relation of Wehrmachtand UGCC in Transcarpathia. By including Greek Catholic factor to strategic &calculations of Germany researchers emphasizet he importance of UGCC for this country.
