Досліджено драму Л. Старицько-Черняхівської "Напередодні". Проаналізовано проблематику твору, яка зумовлюється осмисленням історичних та світоглядних передумов звільнення українського народу від кріпацтва. З"ясовано характерні ознаки конфлікту та особливості його розгортання. Увагу приділено визначенню своєрідності художнього втілення образу Тараса Шевченка, який виконує функцію структурного центру твору. Досліджено способи взаємодії митця й зовнішнього світу, представлені у драмі; визначено засоби вираження духовно творчої та державотворчої місії поета у творі. З"ясовано особливості організації драматичної дії.
In the article drama of Liudmyla Starytska-Chernyahivska "On the Eve" is analyzed. The characteristic signs of conflict and features of its development are defined. Attention is paid to determination theartistic embodiment originality of Taras Shevchenko character, that performs the function of the structural center in the literary work. The purpose of the article is to find out the specific traits in the artistic representation of Taras Shevchenko image in the drama "On the eve". Tasks of the article: to determine the genre features of the literary work; to investigate the peculiarities and methods of conflict deployment in the drama;& to analyze the images of the characters in the literary work in correlation with the image of Taras Shevchenko; to determine the semantic and compositional implication of the poet"s image; to highlight the main problems of the drama and artistic mea&ns of their implementation. Research methods: the semiotic method (for the analysis of the textas a signstructure), the structuralist method (for the analysis of the defining components of the text), the hermeneutical method (for studying the content& level of the literary work). The image of Taras Shevchenko is the determining factor in the formation of the artistic structure of the work. The emergence of the poet crystallizes the meaning of that sense and gives new impulses to the development o&f dramatic action. The episodes of the highest tension that direct heroes to the comprehension of the most important truths and determine the state of deep insight directly related to the image of Taras Shevchenko. The phenomena and processes of obje&ctive reality, reflected in Shevchenko"s perception, acquire a symbolic significance through the determination and amplification of the deep regularities that the great poet makes clear to others.
