The article is devoted to the consideration of the peculiarities of the Ukrainian identity embodiment in the dramaturgy of Ivan Ogienko; attention is paid to the determination of philosophical allusions in literary works that show the ambiguity of the problems identified in the dramatic works of a writer. In the creative heritage of I. Ogienko, a graduate, and later a lecturer of St. Volodymyr University of Kyiv, drama plays an important role, since it artistically embodies the ideas of a scientist and writer, which aimed at the establishment of the foundations of national existence. The philosophic mystery of I. Ogienko "The Native Language (Creation of a Human Language)" (1949) presents an artistic interpretation of the project of linguistic expression and self-expression through the connection with moral principles, giving the conceptuality and timelessness to the ideas of the playwright. The genre of philosophical mystery gives the writer the opportunity to operate with abstract concepts, which are considered as the basis for fu&rther specification and understanding of deep meanings, tracing the correlations between the plans as the forms of realization of primary essential impulses and their embodiment. To the literary work "In the Arms of Suffering" (1946) I. Ogienko gives& a definition of a dramatic philosophical poem, emphasizing the primacy of ideological foundations in the artistic concept. In the characteristics of the characters, the writer outlines the main ideological parameters that are specified in the develo&pment of the dramatic effect and the unfolding of the dramatic conflict. In the dramatic works of I. Ogienko, "The Native Language" and "In the arms of suffering", the positions of the author, that are nationally oriented, are clearly traced, which i&s a common basis for understanding and artistic realization of various issues.
