Розглянуто проблему висвітлення в історіографії питання реформування Наукового товариства імені Шевченка (далі - НТШ, Товариство) у Львові М. Грушевським та зміни статуту цієї організації в контексті їх значення для організації етнологічних досліджень узазначеній установі, а також становлення української етнології. Незважаючи на важливість цієї проблеми, вона переважно досліджувалася в межах вивчення історії Товариства, де проблема реформування цієї інституції висвітлювалася в загальних рисах, що не давало можливості простежити всі перипетії як внутрішньо організаційної роботи в цьому напрямі, включаючи різні думки членів НТШ щодо цієї проблеми, так і зовнішньополітичний фактор, що полягав у складних обставинах існування наукової організації академічного рівня у народу, який був позбавлений власної державності. Автор також робить висновки щодо перспектив для подальшого дослідження зазначеної проблеми.
The article deals with a problem of covering in the historiography the issue of reforming the Shevchenko Scientific Society in Lviv by M. Hrushevskyi and changes in its regulations in terms of its importance to the organization of ethnological researches in this organization and development of the Ukrainian ethnology. Despite the importance of thi&s issue, it was usually researched in historical works about Society, where the problem of reforming of the NTSh was covering in general terms. As a result, it made impossible to follow all the twists and turns in the internal organization work in th&is area including the various points of views on this problem NTSh members. Also it made impossible to follow the foreign factor that was in the difficult circumstances of existence of scientific organization of academic level of the people who had b&een deprived of their own state. The author also draws conclusions about the prospects for further study of this problem.
