.Based on Yelena Tarasova"s short novel "She, Who Remembers No Evil" and Nina Sadur"s novel "Permafrost", the paper investigates a deliberate violation of the aesthetic norms by the Russian prose authoresses of the 1990s. The "seamy side of life" which encompasses a wide range of issues, from the thematizations of disgustingness and violence to the primacy of "horrible" in the esthetic evaluation of the text, isrepresented by the authoresses as a deliberate artistic device, limited by altogether depressive overtones of the work and an intentional shock resulting from descriptions of "naked physiologism". Through their hypernaturalistic manner of writing, the& "seamy side" texts by prose authoresses create the effect of derealization. In this case, the principal inexpressibility of disgustingness/pain transforms into the indivisibility of inner and outer experiences.
