In this article a number of semantic and linguistic approaches to the notion of knowledge are examined. The author tried to show why the notion of knowledge has become the object of semantic and linguistic investigations. The specific features of the semantic and linguistic descriptions of the knowledge are examined in this article. The main attention is paid to the theories of R. Pavilionis, N. Chomskyand W. Quine.
