The inverse problem of determining the thermostressed state in a long isotropic cylinder with unknown undersurface thin layer thermophysical properties when circumferential surface stresses are known is considered. Cylinder is heated by the environment of constant temperature. The heat exchange of the cylinder with its environment obeys the Newton law. The presence of a thin layer is taken into account in the formulated boundary-value problem by means of a Pidstrygach nonclassical nonstationary boundary condition. The additional data for inverse problem of determining two unknown thermophysical parameters is formed by the discrete-in-time data set of circumferential surface stresses. In that case the representation for stresses in cylinder b&y the surface temperature is obtained. When surface stresses are known this representation transforms into integral Volterra equation for unknown temperature at the cylinder surface. After determination the temperature on the surface thermophysical p&arameters are calculated as a result of integro-differential operator acting on the surface temperature. Identification instability depending upon small input data errors is investigated. After identification of thermophysical parameter the temperatu&re and stresses in a cylinder are calculated.
