The electronic properties of the Si(113) surface were investigated during adsorption of Gd atoms on it using electron spectroscopy methods. It is shown, that the adsorption of Gd atoms on atomically clear Si(113)-3x2 surface at room temperature leads to reduction of the surface work function from 4.75 еV for .Gd =0 ML to ~ 0.8 еV for .Gd . 4.4 ML. The
subsequent increase of .Gd results in increasing the work function to ~1.2 еВ for.Gd >6ML and simultaneous metallization of the Gd film. The results have been elucidated by the gadolinium silicide formation and peculiarities the Gd films metallization atroom temperature.
